Contact E-Mail : pbrown@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au
Start Date : 19 January, 2011
Finish Date : 1 March, 2011
State :
The City of Sydney invites artists, designers, curators and other creative people to submit proposals for the 2011 Laneway Art program.

2011 marks the fifth year of the Laneway Art program which is helping to redefine Sydney as a truly cultural and creative city as envisioned in the City’s Sustainable Sydney 2030 plan. With the intention to activate and enliven Sydney’s laneways and public spaces through temporary public art the City’s Laneway Art program is developing a reputation for innovative and exciting works by some of Australia’s best artists and designers and other creative minds.

Based on feedback from previous years this years Invitation to Submit a Proposal is being distributed much earlier than previous years to allow the City’s creative minds to percolate over the summer.  The early release date allows prospective candidates to develop and refine ideas and work with colleagues to make their submissions the best they can be without going overboard due to tight deadlines.

The submission of Laneway Art proposals in 2011 can be either Individual Project Proposals or Curatorial Proposals by curators or curatorial teams recommending groups of artists to undertake the Laneway Program.

- Individual Project Proposals may also include a curator who supplies a curatorial   theme or statement for the artwork.

- Curatorial Proposals submitted should include a curatorial theme or statement and nominate a group of artists to develop a series of temporary art projects in up to 8 City laneways

Next year’s Laneway Art program will run from October 2011 to January 2012.
