artworks which create linkages
between disparate disciplines
(eg. environmental protection/management,
arts and cultural practice,
active transport and health, sports
and recreation, traffic management,
community safety, stormwater and parks):
therefore reflecting the multi-use and
multi-dimensional quality of the GreenWay.
A new public art opportunity opens today, with an invitation to artists to submit designs for Intersect – GreenWay Environmental Art Project.
Intersect is being jointly commissioned by Leichhardt Council and The GreenWay Program. It is envisaged that the artwork commissioned will be the first major environmental artwork* to be installed as part of the GreenWay Sculpture Trail.
The GreenWay is a definable land corridor which extends for 5km from the Parramatta River at Iron Cove, Leichhardt to the Cooks River at Earlwood. It follows the route of Hawthorne Canal and the Inner West Light Rail, which was extended in March 2014.
*Environmental ArtThis commission calls for submissions from artists working and interested in Environmental Art, which is a specific art genre. For an explanation of Environmental Art and some links to related resources, please view the document below.
