Sydney Riders Readers and Writers Festival Event

Dear ARTcycle,

My name is Greg Foyster and I’m the author of the book Changing Gears: A Pedal-Powered Detour from the Rat Race, which tells the story of a 6500-kilometre cycling journey up Australia exploring simple and sustainable living.

I'm doing two events at the Sydney Writers' Festival that ARTcycle members/readers might be interested in:

Changing Gears ‘Read and Ride’ event, Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, May 25 10am-1pm

This year the Sydney Writers’ Festival is holding a special cycling-themed event at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre on Sunday May 25. Join the ABC’s Gregg Borschmann as he talks to Greg Foyster, the author of Changing Gears, about his 6500-kilometre bicycle odyssey up the east coast of Australia seeking a simpler, more fulfilling lifestyle. The one hour discussion is followed by an optional two hour ride around the Blue Mountains with Greg Foyster and Bikeminded bicycle store.

The event is presented with Varuna, the National Writers House. To book, visit the Sydney Writers’ Festival site.

Life on Two Wheels, Sydney Theatre Company, Pier 4/5 Hickson Rd, The Rocks, May 22 10am-11am

Emma Ayres (Cadence) cycled from England to Hong Kong with only a small violin for company. Greg Foyster (Changing Gears) quit his job in advertising to cycle from Hobart to Cairns in hope of discovering a more simple life more aligned with his values. Share in Emma and Greg’s stories as they discuss journeys filled with adventure, discovery and life lessons. They speak to writer and fellow cyclist Chris Flynn.

To book, visit the Sydney Writers' Festival site.

Best wishes,

Greg

Live Theatre 'ANIMAL FARM'

ANIMAL FARM
by George Orwell
Play adaption by Nelson Bond Director A1TC Artistic Director Rachel Jordan.
Celebrated as one of the greatest novels of the 20th Century and the Winner of the Retrospective Hugo Award in 1996. Animal Farm is a fable with a sting. Much has been written about the threat of Communism, but it remained to the late George Orwell, farsighted British author of the brilliant and frightening 1984, to expose the Russian experiment for what it really is; an idealist’s dream, converted by realists into a nightmare...
Featuring Helena Telford, Juan Lorenzo Suarez, Sarah Robinson, Demitri Fields, Karina Bracken, Juliet Velieu, Luna Andom and Nicolas Shields
The Archway 1 Theatre Company was established in August 2012, by founder and Artistic Director Rachel Jordan.
