Hemp Papermaking Workshop

Hemp was once the most valuable and widely used feedstock for fibre, food and construction. It was outlawed in the US in the 20th Century as part of a strategy for commercial domination by chemical, steel and oil magnates.

As the dangers of fossil fuels, mining and deforestation become increasingly apparent, hemp is making a resurgence globally as a natural, green alternative. Papermaking is the touchstone of this return.

The workshop will involve: a short and intriguing video covering the history and process of papermaking; hands-on instruction.

Workshop will be led by Gilbert Grace MFA and is supported by The Green Living Centre and Inner West Council.
